MSIP stands for "Multi-subject Instructional Period" and is a period/block of time for student learning (during a 5-period day, 60 minutes per period) that is being used by several secondary schools across the Upper Canada DSB.

- a student’s MSIP-teacher can help them to plan and manage work in their subject-courses
- students can continue working on prioritizing tasks and their completion
- opportunities for students to work on larger tasks, generally requiring longer periods of uninterrupted time, can be leveraged
- opportunities can be negotiated where students, based on their specific needs, are able to access technology, the Learning Commons, help from other teachers (based on their availability), and/or Student Services
